So for now, to ensure the training nights can be run safely, we will have to restrict new joiners. If you would still like to join, please fill in the Get Involved form and we will add you to our waiting list.

Coronavirus / Covid-19 Update – 24 September 2020

Volleyball England confirmed, “As of Thursday, 24th September, organised indoor sport for over 18s is no longer exempt from the Government’s rule of six. Therefore, indoor volleyball cannot be played by a group of more than six adults in England.” This means that indoor practice for Spikeopaths is not practical (and our current location, The Wren, is not allowing outside bookings anyway). Therefore, until further notice, we are sorry to say there will be no resumption of training.

Coronavirus / Covid-19 Update – 27 July 2020

Volleyball England is delighted to announce that the Government has given the green light for competitive indoor volleyball, beach volleyball and outdoor 6v6 volleyball to return.

Actions plans for each discipline were submitted to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport in the last fortnight and on 27th July, the long-awaited return of volleyball was confirmed.

With immediate effect, volleyball activity (6v6 indoor volleyball, 2v2 beach volleyball and 6v6 outdoor volleyball) can now take place as long as the necessary modifications and safety measures are in place to mitigate the transmission risk of the coronavirus.

Sue Storey, Chief Executive of Volleyball England, said: “We are extremely happy to announce the Government has confirmed that our plans are in line with their guidance. This means we have been given the green light to get back on the sand, the grass and the court and play our sport again, both in training and competitively. We are still working hard on our plans for the return of sitting volleyball and hope to to have some positive news to share soon.

“We will continue to work hard to help everyone in the volleyball community adapt to this new way of operating, so please keep talking to us.”

Coronavirus / Covid-19 Update – 19 July 2020

First and foremost we, in the Club Committee, hope that our Spikeopaths family are all keeping well and safe.

Latest updates from Volleyball England and the UK Government ONLY allow outdoor game play between 2 people versus 2 people. This is allowed as long as the players observe certain hygiene measures such as, and not exhaustive to, cleaning the volleyballs regularly, only one person putting net up, etc.

For the time being Spikeopaths will not be organising any outdoor volleyball sessions until when it becomes feasible to do so when sessions can be open to all of Spikeos players. The BVA and Volleyball England are in continuous communication with the UK Government, and should measures towards team sport played outside ease in the near future, we will once again weigh up the situation at the time and update all Club members as soon as possible with details of any changes.

As a Club and a community, the safety of our members is of utmost importance to us all. We will only return to game play once the UK Government, Volleyball England and the BVA have agreed that it is safe to do so.

Please continue to review the Spikeopaths website, check your emails and our Facebook page for the latest news on developments.

Keep safe and look after yourself and others.
